Costs More Than It's Worth.
I've gone into Peninsula only once, and do not plan on ever going back in there again. The owners seemed extremely friendly, and some of the staff although the rest didn't seem friendly at all.
I went with someone for some dinner and had heard decent things about their food. I work nearby so I'd walk past a lot. The place is decorated very nicely....but you wouldn't be as happy when you're seated under the leaning head of a horse statue. This thing was leaning in over the table and it was extremely disturbing. The carts from the staff kept bumping into me as I was seated and what I'd ordered the duck. It's hard to find chinese places out here that really make that sort of thing, but I've spent a lot of my time in Downtown Manhattan (Chinatown is right there) and grew up in Queens (not far from Flushing) and have been able to purchase duck and rice that is just as good if not better for less than 10 dollars a meal.
If you're looking to do something nice with your family to celebrate something, it may be interesting. I saw the staff come out for someone's birthday and they were having a good time.
