Caribbean style Cottage : Relaxing and Zen like. We have just come back from our weeklong vacation at the Caribbean style cottage on Shelter Island. What an amazing experience. We had rented the Cottage, need I say that it was a wonderful decision!! The owner David was a wonderful Person, very friendly and welcoming and not only gave us a tour of the house and property but brought us down to the beach.

The Cottage itself is a beautiful with the waterfalls, the two pools and 14 glass French doors that opened giving us a complete indoor outdoor living experience.. The main highlight of the Cottage is the semi private beach, we only saw a few other people each day and the privacy was an absolute pleasure. Add to that the crystal clear water of the huge pool, a peaceful yard and view of the pools form the porch to watch the kids swim was all an added bonus. We had some really great meals at the Island restaurants, and the cute little town had some shopping all within a few minutes drive from the house. The owners even supplied us with a few bicycles so we did not have to rent them, we really found this to be the perfect vacation getaway spot. Ideal for couples seeking privacy, attending weddings, a family get – together and much more. We will return to Shelter Island Hideaway and stay at the Caribbean style Cottage again for sure.

A wonderful experience :. Everything in the description of the cottage was accurate. It was absolutely beautiful and even nicer than the photos online. David was a wonderful host and he went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable and spent time go over every detail of the property and house. I would highly suggest this cottage and David's hospitality to anyone who wishes for a Zen like peaceful vacation in a pretty cottage with pools and a beautiful outdoor space too.

A special not about the boat. David took us around the Island to view the Hamptons, the preserve, the amazing houses on Shelter Island, he even stopped at a great seafood place in Southold and we bought fresh fish just caught to bring home. He kept it in the boats fridge till we got back to the dock. That boat ride was awesome, it was not cheap, but honestly having the boat all to ourselves was worth every penny.

Discovering a Treasure. After many years spent summering on Block Island, it was time for a change. The Shelter Island Hideaway cottage was better than we could have imagined. In an easy trip from CT, we were enticed by the farms and vineyards of the North Fork - reminiscent of Provence with farm stands and fields of lavender and sunflowers. Once on Shelter Island, it is easy to relax and forget about everyday concerns. Reddings and Greeny's Markets provide a wide variety of quality specialty foods to bring back to the cottage. Once there, it is difficult to find reason to leave, except to walk to the nearby beach at sunset. The open sun room flanked by two lap pools brings the outdoors in and the sound of the fountain flowing into the nearby Koi pond provides the perfect soundtrack. If the mood strikes to become social or to head out for a meal, there are good choices to meet most tastes on the island, with the South Fork a brief ferry ride away. Shelter Island Hideaway was the perfect respite for my two teenagers daughter and myself - relaxing and inspiring in a charming, zen-like setting.

Shelter Island Hidaway, Cottage. My family and I stayed at the Cottage for a week in July and had an incredible time. Our 2 year old daughter loved playing in the 2 pools, looking for fish and frogs in the pond, and walking to our private beach. My husband and I loved the seclusion, the outdoor shower, and the adorable cottage with all of its amenities, including barbeque and washer/dryer.

We cant wait to come back again next year!

Private Retreat. The Shelter Island Hideaway experience I had was amazing. The home is very well appointed and having the impeccably maintained pool was a delight. Near the beach for walks and a quick ride to Sunset Beach.
