I lost my beloved 2011 Hyundai Elantra Touring during hurricane Sandy. The car was totaled by my insurance company. Since we had no power, heat, or transportation at Rockaway beach, getting a car is one of my top priority needs since it took me close to four hours to get to work with no subway services.

When I visited the dealer on Friday (11/23) during the black Friday sales event, it was clear that it was bait and switch ploy. They wouldn't honor any of the offer. They had a blue 2012 Hyundai Touring priced at around 19K but when I stated I can't put down more than $2000, the price went up to over $24K. OK.. so I said let's take the $6000 off the dealer price you just gave and they spun me on that offer as well. The zero percent financing is just not possible unless you have stellar credit. They couldn't even give me what percentage range on the financing and was confused about paying my deductible. The sales person wanted to keep the email since apparently they have no clue what their Internet sales was offering. I gave them my phone number and left. No wonder they scored an "F" at the NY Better Business Bureau.
Then I got this email and voicemail from Erin (?) at Atlantic Hyundai. A little out of the way at West Islip but she was able to give me a definite price over the phone but obviously financing can't be calculated until they ran a credit check. Fair enough.
A good friend of mine drove my wife and I to Atlantic Hyundai where we met Tom Maiorini. Tommy was a no-nonsense sales person who worked extremelly quick. Never once do I feel I am being given a run-around. All the answers were honest and direct. He was clear on what they can or cannot extend me as an offer. He honor the price that I received over the phone (Erin, the lady who I spoke with on the phone was off that Saturday bit she left a bunch of notes on the computer regarding the call). The price was honored, the hurricane assistance was extended and I even got an unbelievable interest rate on their financing. Originally it was 1.9% but after I indicated I can afford a little higher monthly payment and reduce my loan term to 4 years, the interest went further down to 0.9%.
I was able first hand to see how they treat all their customers in the huge show rooms. We were all treated so well to include an early dinner (Chinese buffet and later on followed by Pizza). Jokingly I mentioned about not being sure being able to give good review since I can't find a coffee pot in the show room (I am a coffee addict).
I just cannot believe how painless and easy my car buying experience was at Atlantic Hyundai. I mentioned to my wife, it is clear why this company earned an "A" rating from the Better Business Bureau.
Thank you Atlantic Auto Mall, thank you Tom Maiorini. If I were Hyundai head quarters, I would keep dealers such as Atlantic on the books and weed off all the other jokers who gives Hyundai a bad name. No doubt my experience in this place would make me recommend Atlantic hyundai to my friends and family.
My name is Taj and I purchase a vehical from Atlantic Hyundai and Iam very unhappy with their service after my deal was complete. I'm having server leaking problems which is leading to electrical problems. The assistance Manager will not fix the truck unless I pay out of pocket. I only had the vehcial for 2 months. Under 90 days and they will not help me. I rating their service very poor a 1. At this point I believe they should put me in a different car, because by waiting it got worse.
THEY'RE WILLING TO LOSE A SALE – Went in and just wanted at first 'to look'... Got pressured into the line "What can I do for you to get you in a new car today". I insisted after the hard-sell that I had to sleep on it. Well, first they completely low-balled my trade-in. Then they magically gave me $2K more for it. The next day I showed them a TrueCar (they are not affiliated) printout for a competing dealer's offering for the SUV for less than $1500 than their 'best price'. I almost acquiesced to a deal in the middle, and they offered to throw in some 'nice accessories' to compensate. I demanded roof rack cross-bars (about maybe $120 cost) to 'make me happy' and their idea of nice accessories were a $30 cargo net and (get this) a 'first-aid kit'! Honestly, the salesman was thoroughly enjoyable and helpful, but the 'manager' he had to answer to (who wouldn't budge) made him lose the sale. Hello other TrueCar dealer! - I got MY price and THEY sold me my new car AND gave me more for my trade-in!!!!
Get a Vin# or you will waste your time – Called specifically to find a specific car in specific color. Sales rep said he had the car both the night before and the same day, since I had called to confirm before heading to the dealership. Got there and found out there was no car and that they had no way to get the car I wanted for at least 6 weeks. A place that does not respect my time does not need my business.
Tip to the wise: If you call, ask for a vin # and if they can't provide, don't waste your time.
