New York's first oceanfront park is relatively calm compared to its livelier neighbors..
In Short
The park draws family-oriented crowds to its five miles of pristine white sand. Located on the western end of Fire Island, it's the only part of the island accessible by car. The glorious sand and the surf are the main attractions, but there's also surfing, an 18-hole Pitch Putt golf course, a boat basin and a lighthouse. Food at the park consists of hot dogs and beach food. Public restrooms and showers are available.
