Pros....it's possible to find that perfect something for a reasonable price. Organized well.

Cons....Never use a credit card in this store. I never use my credit card but one day I did use it at this store. A month later I had a very high charge on my card. Someone at this Selden thrift store stole my number and was able to use my card with a high charge and had something sent to another country. Not sure who is responsible for stealing my card but it was definitely from this Selden Thrift store. Never use a credit card there. They managed to find my zip code to match the credit card address by signing up with netflix with 6 attempts until they figured out my zip code. Not hard to do because I'm only a town away. Netflix was suppose to change their policy because they say people do that often with them.

This Selden thrift store had very good prices over a year ago but now they became stupid and their prices have gone up. It's very hard to find a real bargain in this store. I notice they don't have as many shoppers as they once had. I love thrift shopping for bargains, not to pay high prices for something I can buy new for a couple of dollars more. If they continue to keep their prices high people will go elsewhere. This is a for profit company and they get their stuff for free or buy out unpaid storage units for low cash. They own many stores throughout the island so be careful how you purchase stuff.....use CASH and don't buy over priced items...you can do better elsewhere.

Lots of fun!. Tried to reply to "gooddale" review, but had trouble "publishing"! So, doing it here!

First, they buy their "goods" from donations made to VIetnam Vets - then, resell; so yes, it is "for profit", but payment has been made to a charity for items. The announcements are not "every 5 minutes", more like 1 or 2 times an hour, not bad/more people come in all the time/at some angles you can't see the signs. (The music is more annoying!) There is always a "bargain" to be found there; at least something in your cart is probably 1/2 price! If you want a price on something you DESPERATELY want, ask for the manager, he/she might do it. The clothes are washed here (unlike Salvation Army!) and the quality is better. Many things are a bit overpriced, but that is in all stores. The store is huge, generally well organized, and I can spend hours there! In all, a fun place to shop! Well worth the trip, still one of our favorites! We have even "converted" friends who NEVER had shopped in thrift stores, and now love Selden Thrift!

Go down to Goodwill instead (Middle Country@Nicoll's). Let me start by explaining how much I (in general) LOVE thrift stores. I worked at one for 2 yrs. I can't ever get enough. Except I CAN get enough of Selden Thrift. WAY OVERPRICED. LP records cost 3 bucks apiece (some were 5), half of the shoes/boots were marked over $10 (not prada here folks..)

Electronics do NOT come with their original cables/adaptors; these are all sold separately and cost 1-2 bucks each cord.

None of the sales associates could help with a price even when the record player I wanted was obviously not in working order. (pricing occurs M-F, only during the day)

About every 5 minutes the loudspeaker announced the colors/sales of the day. I could be wrong, but once per half hour would be sufficient, no? The speakers were too loud and pretty obtrusive.

Overall, the announcements stressed me out, made me want to hurry up and leave. Usually I can spend an hour or two looking through things-NOT at Selden Thrift.

I should mention that there IS quite the selection-anyone can find something, but hard to believe these DONATIONS are making some dude tons of cash..

-Correct me if I'm wrong, but I've heard this thrift store is for PROFIT, NOT any kind of charity. Hope this will inform you enough to donate to some other organizations like Salvation Army, Goodwill, Amvets, or any of the smaller local church thrift stores.

Lots to look through. I love thrift stores, so I go every week. Selden thrift is huge, it's an old supermarket space, so I guess they can't figure out how to get that place organized? But I have fun when I go, it's my shopping therapy:) I find something most of the time. Worth a trip!
