This office is running a disgusting business. Dr. Wen had been treating our 1.5 year old boxer for "IBD" with his herbal medicine and steroids for three months. He was doing better and responding to the steroids and we were weaning him off them. Then our dog suddenly stopped eating and vomiting we took him to Dr. Wens office and ordered an XRAY because we knew it was something different this time (usually he responds to the steroid increase very quickly and was doing so well for 2 months). We had an XRAY done by "Dr. G" who told us that there was "just gas" in him and prescribed him infection meds and increase of steroids. After 2 weeks of calling their office to their RUDE receptions not relaying messages to the vet and ignoring our calls in between the 2 other visits that we brought our dog in with him shaking on the floor we were told he was just cold. I kept calling the office after looking up symptoms online and asking "Could it be this" you can't just sit around and watch your dog suffer. Their response- its the IBD it just takes some time. Then my dog died at the ER they did an ultrasound and said "your dog had a toy in him he did not die from IBD." We called Dr. Wen livid he said he would check the XRAY that was done two weeks prior and call us back. He reviewed the chart and said "I am so sorry I see the toy" ... My dog had a toy in him for 2 weeks and was suffering the entire time. He went to the vet multiple times that week without them diagnosing him and just ignoring our questions as if we were a hassle. They admitted fault 100% then when dealing with Dr. Wen's wife/ office manager she changed her whole story told us that we declined treatment or a further XRAY (but yet-- the toy was visible from the first XRAY as per Dr. Wen and we kept calling and brought him back multiple times). How dare these people try and cover up their tracks and then blame our dog dying on us refusing treatment absolutely not. These people are incompetent and should not be allowed to touch animals. We will be reporting them to NYS licensing department. Also, If your dog has died as a result of their negligence consider suing in small claims court. Do not let these people get away with this.
For complaints about this office please do not let them keep committing malpractice and covering up their tracks! http://www.op.nysed.gov/documents/opd-complaint.pdf
Dr Wen and the entire staff at Hampton Vet are providers of the most amazing veterinary care I have ever witnessed - and Dr Wen personally is responsible for saving our two Golden's Schuyler and Fleur.
Aside from traditional veterinary care he can add non-traditional methods of treatment which - for our Goldens - have been a saving grace.
I am not a great proponent of extreme measures when animals are suffering - and find Dr Wen to be a remarkable professional with an amazing and intuitive, calm bond with my animals. Diagnosis is an art - and Dr Wen is an artist as well as a doctor. I can from personal and remarkable experience recommend Dr Wen to anyone who loves his or her animals. I would not go anywhere else.
I know they have favorable reviews but my experience does not reflect that at all. I had a two and a half year old Bullmastiff, Oscar. I took there because my parents took their dog there. We were there regularly for a couple of weeks for minor ear problems then lameness. They put my dog on Rimadyl without doing blood work. Never monitored him during the treatment. I kept saying my dog could not walk far without laying down. They never touched him. Listened to his heart or lungs. Finally I asked for complete blood work and exrays to see if there was a problem. They said the chest xray was fine on that friday and they would call me with blood results.
Sunday my dog was not doing well and I brought him in first thing in the morning. They had lost the blood work that showed he had a raging infection, pneumonia and kidney failure.
I left them in their care. Against my wishes they sedated a dog in respiratory distress later that afternoon and called to say that he was near death on the X-ray table and I should come down. Of course they deny any negligence. When I asked for copy of xrays for another vet to look at they gave me some other dogs X-ray that did not show pneumonia. Its one thing to make a mistake but dishonest and evil to cover it up. Oscar did not have to die. He was under their care the whole time while this unfolded. I have worked with animals my whole life and would never casually slam any vet but stay far away from these idiots. I ended up with my dogs collar and leash and a bag of herbal crap.
Dr. Wen and the entire staff are amazing. I can't speak highly enough of them. He kept my dog with lung cancer alive till he was 15 with his miraculous herbs. Sadly he died in February 2013. It is worth the ride to Westhampton to bring my other two dogs. And he's not a greedy, non caring vet. He's reasonable and very compassionate
I can't speak highly enough of Dr. Wenn and his staff. My dog has been in poor health since I adopted him. Under Dr. Wenn's care, we now have the right diagnosis and effective treatment for my dog's chronic respiratory issues. It has been a difficult few months and the staff has never tired of my calls for help. More so, I appreciate that Dr. Wenn is never standoffish when you have a pet crisis. Great follow through by him and his staff, and I am very happy that my dog is still with me!
put pooch on wen's herbs because he said here kidneys were failing, and 5 days later my pooch was bleeding from her rear. wen said my dachshund ate beach sand and almost died. she never goes to the beach! . i showed wen the herbs and he went ballistic. terrible vet, horrible temperament. nasty person. almost threw me out. he then said if the dog chases deer, then he inhaled dirt. it's a dachshund, wen, they spend their lives digging in the ground. it's like telling me my fish died from swimming in water. i told him i wanted a refund and his front desk said sue us. he has a horrible reputation in east hampton due to his out of control personality when asked "what is in your herbs?" like the great wall of china, he protects his merlinesque herbs with his life. he is no good! pooch is fine now that she's away from wen and his overpriced mystery remedies. he should lose his license.
G R E A T !!! My dog LuLu has had a back problem for over a year. Dr Wen treated her for 3 months and is completely back to normal. Thank You Dr Wen!!!
Thank you, Dr. Wen – Dr. Wen kept my Tibetan Terrier alive after high-tech vets told me to put her down. She had lymphoma. With her herbs, she had another three years of life.
His herbs also prolonged the life of my other dog, a Cocker Spaniel with arthritis. She was in a lot of pain, and the regular vets said she needed surgery. With Dr. Wen's herbs, she led a normal life and needed no surgery.
LOVE THIS VET!!! – Dr. Wen is a gentle genius with animals and people. I have trusted him for years with my dogs and have the utmost faith in his herbal medicines and his advice. I know many Long Islanders who trust their horses and dogs to his care and wouldn't dream of going elsewhere. His associate, Dr."G" is a wonderful doctor also. He is patient and caring, and with a very gentle, humble demeanor, much like Dr. Wen. The staff is friendly and always helpful. I thank God for them and their knowledge of herbal medicine.
SOMEONE SHOULD MAKE WEN TAKE HIS HERBAL JUNK – Stay away from here, guy is a quack. Will sell you his herbal garbage for any ailment. His herbal remedy gave my dog cancer. I have made a report to the FDA about him, hope they close him down. Go at your own risk!!!
