HORRIBLE PLACE_ FILTHY!!! WORST STAFF EVER>>>. This place is horrendous!!! We went to view the venue for our wedding. Worst attitude from the manager and staff - plus dirty!!
One Star Is Too Much!.
Prior to coming here, I read through the reviews and thought the positive reviews posted on Google would honestly reflect the service they gave high stars for...NOT!! I figure after visiting this
place, the reviews might've been written by the owners themselves!
Where do I begin... I quickly realized the valet parking was for the suckers who become mesmerized by the priceless view of the water and confuse this dump as being high class. What a useless service since the parking lot is only 10 feet away! Once I walked in, I couldn't help the strong smell of something fishy but not necessarily from the sea. The smell was as if someone in the room needed antibiotics for a bad skin infection! I figured sitting by the window might help but it didn't because they were not open and the smell was everywhere. Once seated, I was handed the menu containing some hefty prices for their dishes. Again, not going with my instinct I said to myself to give this place a try. Boy did I regret it! First of all, the dish was the size of an appetizer. The food was not inedible but tasted borderline to products found in the frozen food section of your supermarket. The flounder was nasty, the single baked clam was mushy and full of filler (Matlaws at your local supermarket are a thousand times better!) and the scallops had no taste! The only thing that tasted good were the string beans. I didn't finish my food nor did I take a doggy bag because I wouldn't want to do that to my dog.
The positives... Good service from the poor waitstaff being forced to say with a smile that the food here is great.
This place is a wanna-be fine dining, overcharging, waterview mesmerizing dump. Save your money, pay a toll and head over to City Island in the Bronx instead!…
Pretty Good Food And Right By The Water. Their food is great but it's extremely pricey. I'm not sure whether I can say if their food is more expensive than it's worth. They close pretty early too. They're located right by a dock on the water and it is very clean as well as well decorated. The staff are very professional and I've never experienced any rudeness.…
Terrible Experience.
Sunday Night July 12, 2009 I arrived with a party of 6 to discuss business and enjoy a nice meal.
Before I get started please keep in mind that the restaurant was no more than 40 percent customer occupied and not a busy day.
Our first disappointment was that it took 20 minutes for the waitress to arrive at our table and take our drink order and appetizer order.
Appetizers (baked clams and the clam chowder soup) were substandard.
After approximately 50 minutes of us waiting for our dinner with no bread on the table and empty water and drink glasses, we asked for the manager who also claimed to be the owner. His attitude was worse than the service.
I will not be going back. If you decide to go, eat at your own risk.…
Great place for seafood overlooking the boats and water!. Best time to go to capt bills is when they first open for lunch! Great service by stehanie and food always good.Prices are double at nite, so try going early and save money!!
The Most Insulting Dining Experience Of My Life.
Arrived at 8:15pm
Next 15 minutes at the bar - bartender loused up all three drinks.
Seated at 8:30pm
Waitress did not come to table until 8:50pm
Waitress did not come back a 2nd time to take orders until 9:10pm
Had to flag down the hostess to inquire status of food.
9:30 and again at 9:40pm waitress informs table - "food will be right out".
10pm - food arrives - all dishes cold.
We insist on not paying for food and leave restaurant. They oblige.
Worth Noting:
- Owner couldn't care less - DIDN'T EVEN APOLIGIZE or attempt to appease customers.
- The restaurant was at about 75% capacity and was slowing down due to the time of day (after 9pm).
I have never had such an insulting dining experience in my life, compounded by the sheer arrogance of the owner.…
Below average seafood for a five star price. Average seafood restaurant. A lot of hype that doesn't deliver. Salad came with dinner and had about a pound of dressing dropped in the middle and the ants crawling on the wall kept us good company. Be sure to make a reservation or you will be stuck eating in the bar watching the valet's do their job.…
Great Food but...... Last summer I had a bridal shower for my daughter at Capt. Bill's. I have to say the brunch buffet was absolutely wonderful! Everyone raved about the food. The staff I dealt with prior to and the day of the shower were efficient, helpful and polite. BUT.........my problems were these....I was told I would have 3 tables of 10. Upon arriving there were 4 tables of 8 in the room. Therefore, I did not have a centerpiece for the 4th table. The carpet in the room had encrusted food on it and I had to get someone to vacuum the room shortly before my guests started arriving. The cushions on all the chairs were dirty with crumbs and I ran around cleaning them off. The dirty carpet and chairs are what "really" annoyed me. Their's no excuse for that! So, yes the place should have been cleaner but I am still recommending this restaurant since the food was excellent and the location on the bay is very nice.…
One of the best on Long Island. Excellent restaurant located on the South Shore of Long Island. The meal and service are fantastic. A terrific dinner menu is complimented by creative and delicious specials prepared each night. There is a great bar that is packed on Friday and Saturday nights. Very nice setting right on the water. Also have had an excellent brunch on Sundays. Whether you are having drinks at the bar or dinner on a special occasion, you will be treated to a fantastic experience.…
